Uptime monitoring in India (2026): tools with INR pricing, UPI and GST invoices

Updated · written by PuzariCloud, which makes Vigil, one of the tools below

Buying uptime monitoring from India? Check three things before features: is the price billed in rupees, does UPI work for renewals, and what tax invoice do you get. Uptime Assure, TidyMonitor and Pingzo bill in INR with WhatsApp alerts; Vigil bills in INR with UPI through Paddle; UptimeRobot and Better Stack bill in USD.

This page is for Indian web agencies, small businesses and developers choosing a tool to watch their websites and APIs. We make Vigil, so read our row with that in mind. Every other fact in the table was read from the vendor's own pricing page on 3 October 2026. Where a vendor's page does not say something, the table says "not stated" rather than guessing. Prices change; the vendor's site is always the final word.

What Indian buyers should check

1. Rupee billing or US dollars

When an Indian card pays a dollar subscription, the bank converts at roughly the market rate plus a foreign-currency markup (one analysis of SaaS costs for Indian buyers puts it at about 3.5%). That markup is not reclaimable, even for a GST-registered business. A tool that bills in rupees avoids it, and your monthly cost stops moving with the exchange rate. On a ₹750 plan the difference is small; on several tools across an agency's clients it adds up.

2. Will the renewal actually go through

RBI rules for recurring payments on Indian cards require a one-time authentication when you set up the mandate and a pre-debit notification at least 24 hours before each charge. Recurring charges above ₹15,000 need extra authentication each time. Payment processors report that many international subscriptions fail on Indian cards when the merchant's setup does not follow these rules. In practice: if a foreign tool keeps failing to renew on your card, that is the likely cause, and a tool that supports UPI Autopay or a compliant card mandate is the fix.

3. UPI and UPI Autopay

UPI is how most Indians pay online. For a subscription, what matters is UPI Autopay: a mandate you approve once in your UPI app, after which renewals are collected automatically (with the 24-hour notice). NPCI limits UPI subscriptions to ₹15,000 per renewal, so a large yearly plan may still need a card. Several Indian vendors take UPI through Razorpay; Vigil takes it through Paddle.

4. The GST invoice

Business software attracts 18% GST. Who issues your invoice matters:

  • An Indian GST-registered seller issues a tax invoice with its GSTIN, and, if you give it, yours. That is the invoice your accountant normally expects for input tax credit. TidyMonitor, for example, says every payment gets a GST invoice with your business name and GSTIN; Pingzo shows "+ 18% GST (added at checkout)".
  • A foreign seller billing you directly usually charges no Indian GST to a registered business; the business accounts for it under reverse charge. Unregistered buyers, such as many freelancers, may end up paying the tax without being able to reclaim it.
  • A merchant of record such as Paddle (which sells Vigil) is the legal seller: it charges and handles the tax and emails the invoice, which comes from Paddle rather than from the software maker.

Whether you can claim input tax credit on a given invoice depends on your registration and the invoice details. We are not tax advisers: check with your accountant before you choose a tool on this basis.

5. WhatsApp and SMS alerts

Email is easy to miss at 2 am; a WhatsApp message or SMS is not. Indian vendors lead with WhatsApp. Look at how it is delivered (an official WhatsApp Business API, or a free gateway to personal numbers), whether it is on the plan you can afford, and whether there is a monthly message cap. Some global tools offer SMS and phone calls instead, often as paid credits.

6. Where the checks run from

If your customers are in India, a check from Mumbai sees what they see: Indian routing, Indian CDN edges, and blocks that only affect Indian traffic. A check from Europe or the US still catches a dead server, an expired certificate or a broken deploy, but it can miss an India-only problem. Few tools say clearly where their probes are; the table notes the ones that do.

7. Where your data is stored

Monitoring data is mostly URLs, response times and alert history, not customer records, so data residency is rarely a blocker. If your contracts or the DPDP Act review require data to stay in India, ask the vendor in writing where it is stored, or choose a tool you can host yourself on an Indian server.

Comparison table

Prices checked 3 October 2026 on each vendor's own page (linked in the first column). Prices exclude GST unless the vendor says otherwise. "Not stated" or "not listed" means the page we read does not say; it does not mean the feature is missing.

Vigil in detail, including what it does not do

Vigil is made by PuzariCloud, a small company in India. Buyers in India see rupee prices at checkout: Starter ₹1,499, Pro ₹3,999 and Business ₹11,999 a month, or ₹14,990, ₹39,990 and ₹1,19,990 a year (yearly costs ten months). Free has 20 monitors at 5-minute checks, with commercial use allowed; paid plans check every minute and start with a 14-day trial without a card. Every plan includes status pages, all monitor types, and alerts by email, Telegram, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, webhooks and WhatsApp.

Being honest about the gaps:

  • No check location in India. Hosted checks run from the EU (Germany), and monitoring data is stored there. If you need checks from India, run Vigil's private-location agent on any Linux, macOS or Windows machine in India; Free includes one private location. The self-hosted edition (₹11,999 a month in India) keeps everything on your own server.
  • WhatsApp goes through CallMeBot, a free gateway for personal numbers. Each person who wants alerts registers their own number once. It is not the official WhatsApp Business API, and it is not meant for sending alerts to large groups.
  • UPI covers renewals up to ₹15,000. Monthly plans and Starter yearly can be paid by UPI Autopay; Pro and Business yearly need a card.
  • The invoice is from Paddle, the merchant of record, not from an Indian GST-registered company. Ask your accountant whether that suits your input tax credit.

When to choose which

  • A hobby site or a few personal projects: UptimeRobot's free tier (50 monitors at 5-minute checks) is hard to beat if you are happy with email alerts and USD for any later upgrade. Vigil's Free also works and allows commercial use.
  • You want WhatsApp alerts, rupee billing and a GST invoice from an Indian company, with little else: TidyMonitor or Uptime Assure. Uptime Assure also checks from Mumbai and has a free tier with WhatsApp.
  • The lowest possible rupee price for many monitors: WebMonitor (Averiq) lists a ₹50 a month plan; check its limits against your needs.
  • An agency that also wants SEO audits, Core Web Vitals and a client portal per site: Alert91 is built around that, priced per website.
  • You need checks from an Indian region and browser flow tests, and USD is fine: PingSLA lists India as a region and takes UPI.
  • On-call rotations with unlimited phone calls and SMS: Better Stack, billed in USD.
  • One tool for uptime, cron jobs, server metrics, logs, error tracking and client status pages, billed in rupees: Vigil. It suits agencies with many client sites (client tenants, white-label status pages, unlimited team members on paid plans) and developers who want everything in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Which uptime monitoring tools bill in Indian rupees?

On 3 October 2026 these showed rupee prices on their own pricing pages: Uptime Assure, TidyMonitor, Pingzo, Alert91 and WebMonitor (Averiq), all Indian vendors, plus Vigil, which shows rupee prices to buyers in India through Paddle. UptimeRobot, Better Stack and PingSLA list prices in US dollars; PingSLA lets Indian buyers pay by UPI.

Can I pay for Vigil with UPI?

Yes. Buyers in India see ₹1,499, ₹3,999 or ₹11,999 a month at checkout, and Paddle offers UPI with a UPI Autopay mandate for renewals. UPI subscriptions are capped at ₹15,000 per renewal, so monthly plans and Starter yearly can be paid by UPI; Pro and Business yearly need a card.

Do I get a GST invoice that lets me claim input tax credit?

It depends on the seller. Some Indian vendors, such as TidyMonitor, say they issue GST tax invoices with your GSTIN. Vigil is sold through Paddle, the merchant of record, so the invoice comes from Paddle and Paddle handles the tax. Whether you can claim input tax credit on any particular invoice is a question for your accountant.

Is there a tool that checks my site from India?

Uptime Assure lists Mumbai as a check region and PingSLA lists India as a selectable region. Vigil's hosted checks run from the EU; you can run Vigil's private-location agent on a server in India, and Free includes one private location.

Can I get WhatsApp alerts without a WhatsApp Business account?

Yes, with several tools. Vigil sends WhatsApp alerts through the free CallMeBot gateway to personal numbers on every plan; TidyMonitor says you only verify your number once. Pingzo and PingSLA include WhatsApp on paid plans.
