Vigil is built and run by one person. Here's exactly how.
Vigil is made by PuzariCloud, the trading name of Ritom Puzari, a solo founder in India. There is no investor money and no sales team: the product pays for itself or it doesn't exist. That's also why the pricing is flat and public, and why nothing is metered into a surprise bill.
How it's operated
- Runs on servers in the EU (Hetzner). Customer data stays there; you can export or delete your workspace yourself.
- Nightly database backups, kept for 14 days. The backup job reports to a Vigil heartbeat on the public status page.
- Every release runs an end-to-end suite of more than 2,100 automated checks before it is deployed.
- Deploys are rolling (two web processes, one at a time), so an update doesn't drop requests.
- The honest part: the ops team is one person. A multi-hour outage is unlikely but possible, and the public status page will say so when it happens. If Vigil must never be down for you, the self-hosted edition runs on your own servers.

Why Vigil
Small teams end up paying for five tools to answer one question: is something broken, and why? Vigil puts uptime checks, cron heartbeats, status pages, server metrics, traces, errors, logs and on-call in one place, at one flat price per workspace, with every feature on every plan. It's not the deepest tool in any single category, and the comparison pages say so where it matters.
