Leaving UptimeRobot after the price change?
On UptimeRobot's public pricing page (checked 18 October 2026), Solo costs $10 a month ($9 billed yearly) for 10 monitors and $22 ($19) for 50, with no login seats for colleagues; private status pages start on Team at $41. Users have reported repeated price and free-plan changes. Vigil Starter is $19 for 50 one-minute monitors with unlimited team members and private status pages, and the importer moves your monitors in about a minute.
Free plan: 20 monitors at 5-minute checks, commercial use allowed, no card. New accounts also get a 14-day trial of a paid plan.

Calculator: your setup, both bills
| Setup (monthly billing) | UptimeRobot | Vigil |
|---|---|---|
| A freelancer with 10 sites, 1-minute checks | $10 (Solo (10 monitors)) | $19 (Starter) |
| 50 client sites, 1-minute checks, one login | $22 (Solo (50 monitors)) | $19 (Starter) |
| 50 sites, a private status page, 3 people | $41 (Team) | $19 (Starter) |
| 100 monitors, 5 people, white-label status pages | $77 (Scale (200 monitors)) | $24 (Starter, +1 monitor pack) |
| 200 monitors, 10 people | $172 (Scale (200 monitors), +5 seats) | $49 (Pro) |
Where UptimeRobot is cheaper, we say so: for a handful of sites with one login, their Solo plan costs less than Vigil Starter. Vigil's fastest check is 1 minute; if you need 30- or 15-second checks, stay on UptimeRobot Team or Scale. Vigil adds +50 monitors for $5 a month on paid plans and never bills per seat.

What the clip shows
- Import → UptimeRobot, paste a read-only API key (shown as dots).
- Preview: 5 found, 5 ready to import (HTTP, keyword, TCP port and heartbeat monitors).
- Import selected: "Imported 5 monitors" and the monitor list.
- In UptimeRobot, open Integrations & API and create a read-only API key (main or monitor-specific keys work too).
- Create a free Vigil account; you land on the importer with UptimeRobot selected. Paste the key.
- Check the preview: names, URLs, intervals and keyword checks come across; anything above your plan's numbers is listed, not silently dropped.
- Add where alerts should go (Telegram, Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, email, webhook) and send a test alert.
- Heartbeat monitors get new ping URLs: replace the UptimeRobot heartbeat URL in each cron job, then pause the old monitors.
Questions
Can I use UptimeRobot's free plan for a business?
Yes, today. UptimeRobot's terms (checked 19 October 2026) say it "is available for any use, including commercial and business use"; that line came with its Fair Use Policy on 26 May 2026, after a commercial ban on the free plan from November 2024. Its pricing page still labels Free "good for hobby and non-profit projects". Vigil's free plan allows commercial use too, and our terms lock the price of an active subscription.
Will my UptimeRobot heartbeat URLs keep working?
No. Each imported heartbeat gets a new Vigil ping URL (GET, POST or HEAD, no API key). Swap the URL in each cron job, then pause the old monitor.
Does Vigil check as often as UptimeRobot?
Vigil's fastest interval is 1 minute on paid plans and 5 minutes on Free. UptimeRobot offers 30 seconds on Team and 15 seconds on Scale; if you need that, stay with them.
Before you switch: honest limits
- Vigil's checks run from one location (Hetzner, Germany) plus any private locations you install; there is no multi-region confirmation yet. Every failure is re-checked after 12 seconds before it counts.
- Hosted Vigil does not make phone calls or send SMS. WhatsApp alerts go through CallMeBot and suit personal use.
- Fastest interval is 1 minute (5 minutes on Free).
